JSPWiki, originally found at www.JSPWiki.org, and now at JSPWiki.Apache.org (and mirrored at JSPWiki-wiki.Apache.org), is probably the only wiki engine written in JSP (Java Server Pages), hence the name. The homepage and 'meta' is at JSPWiki.
JSPWiki wiki software was built around the standard J2EE components of Java, servlets and JSP. It was written by Janne Jalkanen (who maintains his personal wiki, ButtUgly) and originally released as Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in 2001 under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). The Glassfish Application Server includes it as one of its core applications. It is primarily used for company intranets, and has an active developer community, also including the i3G Institute of the Heilbronn University, Germany. From Autumn 2011, JSPWiki moved to Apache Incubation, and its software was then released under the Apache Public License (APL). Since July 2013, JSPWiki is a top level project (TLP) at the Apache Software Foundation (ASF). Now constantly developed, JSPWiki is available in ten (10) interface languages: Breton, German, English, Spanish, Finnish, French, Italian, Dutch, Russian, and Chinese.
Great features[edit]
- Since coming under the wing of Apache, a notable great feature is rapid access to fundamental statistics of any JSPWiki site. By hovering your mouse pointer over its site logo, a pop-up appears, showing version number of JSPWiki software, number of pages (page count), number of active sessions, and system uptime, together with active links to its full statistics page (called 'SystemInfo'), and the ability to edit its 'home menu' (only for logged-in users) which generates this mouse-over pop-up!
- For fans of the wikiFactor (wF) metric, Apache JSPWiki software has the option, via an official plugin, to generate page views counts and presenting the statistics on page views.
